You’ve Got a Plan- Right? How to Start Your Marketing Plan Today!

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

By Susan Payton If you’re like many people, the idea of planning anything may give you an ulcer. But what if by planning, you could save money and earn even more? A marketing plan does just that. By laying out exactly how you want to spend your marketing dollars for the next year, you will save money by not having costly last minute projects, and you can properly plan your promotion in order to generate more sales! Don’t wait until the new year to start planning your marketing activities for the next year. Now is as good a time as any! Why Bother? You may think you’ll just coast along and take marketing opportunities as they come. But if you’ve been doing this in the past, you probably see a lot of room for improvement. Like me, maybe you’ve come across a terrific opportunity that you just couldn’t afford to do, which means you probably lost some sales as a result. Marketing plans give you structure for your business year. They break down what your goals are and how you can achieve them. They give you a budget to work with so that you don’t get caught with empty pockets when a good opportunity appears. Sticking to the Plan Just like diets, marketing plans can be hard to stick to! But they’re not something you should write and shove in a drawer! Take a look at your plan monthly or quarterly to make sure you’re aligned with the plan. If not, don’t fret; just modify the plan to fit the way your business’ needs change. What Should I Include? Your marketing plan doesn’t need to be a formal 500 page document. It’s for you, so it can be informal and short. Make sure to include: -Goals for the year (hit certain number in sales, revenues, etc.) -How you will achieve your goals -Quantify the steps (how many networking events will you attend each month?) -Map out your steps on the calendar -Include budget for advertising, networking, anything that helps grow your business Now What? Execute! If you break your goals down into steps, it’s less daunting than looking at the big picture of, say, making $1,000,000 in revenues for the year. While implementing your plan of advertising, networking and promotion, check in quarterly to see if you’re on track to meet your goal of $1,000,000. If at the end of quarter one you’ve only made $50,000, consider making your marketing plan reflect a more realistic goal for your company. “Without a plan, there’s no attack. Without attack, no victory.” Curtis Armstrong If you’re like…every business, you want more customers and more sales. That’s not just going to happen. But with a well thought out marketing plan, you can grow your business and increase revenues. Don’t take executing the marketing plan completely on your shoulders. Working with experts in marketing will allow you to focus on what you do best - running your company. You and your marketing team should be partners, and should work together to go above and beyond what you thought your company was capable of! Liposuction Pills

Monday, May 26th, 2008

By Gen Mason Liposuction pills are the latest buzzword when it comes to weight loss aides; it is just that not much is known about this method of weight loss.. Not everyone is blessed with the perfectly shaped and toned body and well sculpted facial features, which is when people tend to resort to means like using liposuction pills. Even the strictest of exercise and gym training at times may not be able to set right a flaw in the body; neither would the best planned out diet nor the most expensive dietician on earth help. Many a time, things do get out of hands and it is in situations like this that people resort to methods like liposuction or tummy tuck to get rid of localized areas of excess flab. (Here we are ignoring the lethargic few who simply dont want to sweat it out for a perfect ten.) One perfect instance of the need for artificial procedures to remove excess fat deposits is after pregnancy in women. Disease conditions are another common reason why one may need to resort to surgery to remove surplus fat deposits under the skin; a spinal injury for instance would restrict the extent to which one can work out on the abdominal area to get rid of fat there. Obese persons who lose a lot of weight (over 100 pounds) in short spans of time often have to deal with folds of lose skin all over. The simplest solution to each of these conditions and more is surgical correction or else the use of liposuction pills. While liposuction is a lot less complicated as compared to the surgery involved in a tummy tuck or even a minituck, sometimes in order to achieve the best results a combination of both may be required. Setting aside all of these modes and opting for something that will be a lot less expensive (though it may not be so in the long run), people resort to various devices that claim to reduce weight with little or no exertion required by them. This seldom is effective and is usually meant to rip off the gullible few who are willing to risk some of their hard earned money. The other option is to use medications to the likes of liposuction pills. If youre wondering what this term means, as the name suggests, these are expected to have the same results as a liposuction surgery. The only difference would be the less drastic impact owing to the small doses in which the ingredients reach the fat deposits as against direct application to the target area in a liposuction session. Just like a fluid mixed with anesthetic is used to flush fat deposits out from under the skin, there are researchers who are currently working on creating a liposuction pill that will completely cut off the supply of blood to the adipose tissue, thereby causing them to disintegrate. This technique however is currently only in its formative phase and is yet to be made available to the eagerly awaiting masses. Gen Mason does cardio and works out everyday. What Should I Discuss with Russian Ladies?

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

By Alex J Brannigan The makeup of Russian ladies differs from the makeup of women from other countries because of the unique history of Russia and Russian personality. That is why this article will be helpful for foreign men who wish to have a relationship with a Russian lady. As you know, first of all a man is judged by externals on a face-to-face meeting. This is very important but sometimes it is a mistake. That is why a woman needs correspondence to get to know a man. When writing a letter to a Russian lady, not having first met her face-to face, you should have some guidance, since Russian culture may differ slightly from yours. We offer the following suggestions to improve your chances for success. 1. First write about yourself about your job, occupation, family, interests and hobbies. Probably you can find common things to discuss. This is the easiest and best way to find common background at first. 2. Try not to make an invasion of privacy, because this can make a lady feel uncomfortable and she might not wish to answer. 3. Write her a funny story from your life. Ladies love people with a great sense of humor. But also let her know that you can be serious when it’s necessary. 4. Do not discuss money. You can indicate your financial status by the content of your correspondence. 5. Do not forget to compliment. Ladies like lots of compliments and all women like to be admired for their beauty and intelligence. 6. Do not write about sex to a Russian lady. Most Russian ladies were raised in conservative families that keep up traditions of old Russia (USSR). At that time it was restricted to talk about sex, to watch sexy movies, etc. The sexual revolution passed not too long ago in Russia, so not all Russians revised their views on sex. Modern Russian women are more open than older ladies, but it’s not recommended to talk about their private life. 7. Be truthful. Women are more sensitive and intuitive than men and they sense when a man is dishonest. It’s always best to be truthful, especially if you meet face-to-face. Otherwise you can disturb the good understanding between you and your lady. 8. Write her a story from your life which pinpoints your individuality, your kindness, generosity, sense of purpose and other positive qualities of your character. 9. Tell your lady what are you expecting from correspondence with her. She should know whether you are looking for a life partner or just for a pen friend. Of course these suggestions do not cover everything. A relationship is not always a simple matter. MyPoppet.com Dating Agency provides training and courses in order to advance your communication skills and personal charm. You will also discover some useful facts about Russian ladies’ mental structure and individuality, which will help you to impress beautiful Russian ladies. The History Of Interest Throughout Time

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

By Luigi Frascati Although I am sure that someone at the State Department will argue otherwise, Cyrus The Great (590 529 BC), founder of the Persian Empire, was no terrorist. Quite far from it. Although one might not have wanted him as next-door neighbor, Cyrus II of Persia was very illuminated for his times, according to the Greek historian Herodotus. Cyrus, in fact, beheaded only those who would not bend under his rule. But all others were spared. Such was the case with Croesus of Lydia, whose life was spared by Cyrus after the battle of Pterium, and that of Nabodinus after the battle of Opis and the siege of Babylon. However Cyrus, like all military geniuses, had his … shall we say … pet-peeves: if he ever caught anyone charging interest on loans, he would order him tied at the stake, would personally pull out his Zippo and … woosh, set him ablaze right there and then. In this day and age of mortgage and lending interest rates as well as returns on investment and yields, it is interesting to look at how the very concept of interest - both active and passive interest - has developed throughout the centuries to the point of where we acknowledge and understand it today. Looking back at how things were once seen is always gratifying, to the extent that it provides us with a measure of how times have changed. The ‘phenomenon on interest’ as it was once called first became the object of question only in the form of loan interest for a full two thousand years. What especially caught the attention - and the ires - of our ancestors was the fact that loan interest has its source not in labor but, as it were, in some bounteous mother-wealth. In societies of the past where work and productivity stood at the very essence of existence, making a profit by - quite literally - not producing anything for the common good must have looked almost sacrilegious. The acquisition of wealth without labor, moreover, ran diametrically opposite to many early religious tenets, both Pagan as well as Christian. The history of the interest phenomenon, therefore, begins with a very long period in which loan interest, or usury, alone is the subject of investigation. This period begins deep in ancient times and reaches down to the Eighteenth century. It is occupied with the contention of two opposing doctrines: the elder of the two is hostile to interest, while the later defends it. In the early stages of economic development there regularly appears a lively dislike to the taking of interest. Credit has still little place in production. Almost all loans are loans for consumption and are, as a rule, loans to people in distress. The creditor is usually rich, the debtor poor; and the former appears in the hateful light of a man who squeezes something from the little of the poor in the shape of interest to add to his own superfluous wealth. It is no wonder, therefore, that both the Ancient World and the Christian Middle Ages were exceedingly unfavorable to usury. The Ancient World, in spite of some few economical flights, had never developed very much of a credit system and the Middle Ages, after the decay of the Roman culture, found themselves - in industry as in so many other things - thrown back to the circumstances of primitive times. As a result, in both eras several laws were enacted forbidding the taking of interest, or the paying of it. Perhaps the Greek philosopher and thinker Aristotle in his book “Politics” is the most vociferous opponent of interest. Here is what he wrote : “Of the two sorts of money-making one, as I have just said, is a part of household management, the other is retail trade: the former necessary and honorable, the latter a kind of exchange which is justly censured; for it is unnatural, and a mode by which men gain from one another. The most hated sort, and with the greatest reason, is usury, which makes a gain out of money itself, and not from the natural use of it. For money was intended to be used in exchange, but not to increase at interest. And this term usury, which means the birth of money from money, is applied to the breeding of money, because the off-spring resembles the parent. Wherefore of all modes of making money this is the most unnatural”. Quite a statement! One may want to bring this up to the attention of his banker when applying for a loan the next time around. Aristotle’s thinking may be summed up this way: money is by nature incapable of bearing fruit. As such, the lender’s gain cannot come from the peculiar power of money. And, consequently, it can only come from a defrauding of the borrower. Interest is therefore a gain got by abuse and injustice (another point that can be discussed with a banker). Things began to change somewhat under the Roman Empire, when economic exchange and trading of goods reached such complexity that gratuitous credit began not to make sense any longer. And yet even the Romans - perhaps in line with the theological credo of the time - put severe legal constraints to the amount of interest that could be charged. And to canonize these limits (which varied on a case-by-case basis), they were the first to publish a list of interest rates. This list grew more and more complicated with time, since the Senate thought that interest rates should be less for friendly countries and more for the unfriendly, thereby instating the first international economic agreements among countries of the Mediterranean Basin (though these economic ‘agreements’ where unilateral, i.e. imposed by Rome on to everyone else). Things began progressively worse, however, following the break up of the Roman Empire and the advent of Christianity. In fact in the sacred writings of the New Testament were found certain passages which, as usually interpreted, seemed to contain a direct divine prohibition of the taking of interest. This was particularly true of the famous passage in Luke: “Lend, hoping for nothing in return” (third point one should point out to a banker). The powerful support which the spirit of the time, already hostile to interest, thus found in the express utterance of divine authority, gave it the power once more to draw legislation to its side. The Christian Church lent its arm. Step by step it managed to introduce the prohibition into legislation. First the taking of interest was forbidden by the Church, and allowed to the clergy only. Then it was forbidden to everyone, but still the prohibition only came from the Church. At last even the temporal legislation succumbed to the Church’s influence and gave its severe statutes the sanction of Roman Law. The status quo remained cast into stone for the following fifteen centuries, until the advent of Mercantilism and of the Industrial Revolution. Here the monarchies of the time, most notably the Crown of England, decided to back private entrepreneurs with their own money. They chose to do so to gain a political and strategic edge over other monarchies and other states. And so as to encourage their own citizens not only to manually work, but also to think, they cheerfully invested large sums in the development of their inventions - some archaic but others of very practical application. In doing so, however, the monarchies wanted to reap also an economic profit and thus the modern concept of interest - both simple and compounded - was finally born. Hib Meningitis and the Hib Vaccine

Friday, May 9th, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Peter_Nisbet] Peter Nisbet Meningitis is an infection of the membrane which covers the brain and the spinal cord, and can be caused by infection with bacteria and viruses. There are several types of meningitis of which Hib meningitis is one, and I will discuss each of them in successive articles, published at approximately two weekly intervals. Hib meningitis the form of meningitis caused by the haemophilus influenzae type B bacterium. This form of meningitis is particularly dangerous to children, and was the form which caused most deaths to under fives from meningitis, particularly those between the ages of 3 to 36 months. Due to the Hib vaccine it is now very rare in developed countries, though has not yet been eradicated. The vaccine is very effective and Hib meningitis is no longer a significant risk in those countries that have included the vaccination as part of its childhood vaccination program. ========== Hib Has No Rash Unlike other forms of meningitis, the Hib bacterium does not cause a rash, but it does display the other symptoms associated with meningitis such as high temperature, sore throat and headache, sensitivity to light and several other symptoms, some of which are evident only to the mother. These, and other symptoms, are discussed in more detail on my website and blog. Due to modern medicine, 95% of cases with Hib meningitis recover, though up to 12% of these are left with long term problems such as deafness, brain damage and epilepsy. The bacteria live for a short while in the throat and the back of the nose, and are transmitted by contact with aerosol emissions from the throat, such as coughing or sneezing, and other contact with throat fluids. They cannot live outside the body and are not associated with animals other than humans. Hib carriers do not necessarily become ill; in fact the majority do not, so it is not sufficient to stay away from known infections as with most other childhood diseases. It was quite common for the bacteria to be carried by healthy children, though this is now rare due to the almost universal adoption of the Hib vaccine in the developed world. ========================= The Hib Vaccine Was Difficult To Develop So, how about the vaccine? The Hib vaccine is what is known as a conjugate vaccine, which means that it is made by combining a small part of the bacteria with a protein. Initial attempts to produce a vaccine were foiled by the physiology of the bacterium. The part which was required to stimulate the human immune system to produce antibodies is a sugar on the surface which is not easily taken up in the body, and after much experimentation with mice a way was found to couple this sugar with a protein which enabled it to be easily absorbed by the human body. The vaccine is very effective and very safe, and since its initial testing in the mid 1990s and introduction into national vaccination programs, the incidence of Hib meningitis has decreased dramatically by around 90% saving the lives of countless young children. It is now part of the vaccination schedule of most developed countries, though there is a significant difference between those of the USA and the UK which is worthy of investigation. =============================== Why Do American Children Fece The Needle More Often? Full details of the American and British childhood vaccination programs are provided on my childhood diseases website, though these differences should be discussed. American children who are afraid of needles are at a decided disadvantage compared to their British counterparts. By the time an American child reaches the age of two years old, he or she will have been subjected to up to twenty different vaccinations. A child can receive up to five shots during one visit to a doctor, and this is due to the American practice of dispensing one shot per vaccine. In the UK, however, the same child will have had only ten shots due to the British practice of using multiple vaccines per vaccination. There has never been any indication that a multiple vaccination has done harm to any child. OK, there was the MMR scare regarding autism, but this was bit of nonsense based on financial interests which has since been proved to be without foundation. After all, if the measles part of the combined vaccine against measles, mumps and rubella caused autism, the same would be true of the individual measles vaccine. So why does the USA administer only individual vaccines? My only conclusion can be money. In the USA the vaccination industry is big money to the pharmaceutical companies and they are dealing with individual hospitals and doctors. In the UK, on the other hand, the National Health Service is a free service to UK nationals and most visitors, so the government is looking for minimum cost. The UK system requires vaccinations to be as cost effective as possible, while this is not the case in the USA. Is the British system less effective: statistics say not. This is my conclusion, and I have no evidence other than simple deduction to lead me to it. Naturally, if there are other reasons, my email address is on my website. You can make your own deductions, but in the final analysis, the Hib vaccine works and has saved many lives. The other main difference is that the manufacturer of the vaccine is an important factor in the USA whether a child gets the 6 monthly vaccination or not. British children are vaccinated at 2, 3 and 4 months with a booster shortly after the first birthday. The USA vaccinates against Hib C meningitis at 2, 4 and 6 months. However, in America, three conjugate vaccines are licensed for use with infants, and if PRP-OMP (PedvaxHIB or ComVax [Merck]) are used the 6 monthly vaccination is not required. Irrespective of international variations in the ages that it is administered, The Hib vaccine has without a doubt literally decimated the incidence of Hib meningitis in those countries that have routinely adopted the Hib conjugate vaccine. ========================= Meningococcal Meningitis Who Is Right? The next article in this series on meningitis will have a look at meningococcal meningitis, and again point out the difference between the British and American vaccination schedule with respect to Men C. There are significant differences in the proportion of the relevant populations vaccinated, and the reasons for this will be investigated and compared to what happens in the rest of the world. Banish Boring Brown Bag Lunches!

Sunday, May 4th, 2008

By Cyndi Roberts One way that money slips through our fingers without our realizing it is by eating out at lunch every day. Did you know that by taking your lunch 3 days a week instead of eating out, you could save as much as $800 a year? Think what you could do with that much extra money! Your lunch doesn’t have to be a sandwich and chips, either. With just a little bit of creativity and planning, brown bag lunches can be pretty delicious! Try these ideas for starters: Invest in a few of those 1-serving plastic storage containers with lids. These are so handy–when you have just one serving left of any dish at dinner, put it in one of these dishes. Designate a shelf in the fridge for these leftovers. In the mornings, anyone in the family can choose what to put in their lunch bag! Those little containers can also be used to hold dip for carrot or celery sticks; fill with peanut butter and pack a zipper bag of pretzels for dipping. Maybe salsa for dipping tortilla chips (not so healthy, but really good!) Or make your own pudding cups with your homemade pudding! Fill tortillas or pita pockets with egg or tuna salad. Spread cream cheese on a tortilla, add a little salsa, and top with sliced turkey or ham. Place another tortilla on top, cut in fourths and put in zipper top bag. A good way to carry deviled eggs (that lunchbox staple)– after filling, put the two halves back together, and wrap in plastic wrap or put in a small container! Muffins hold up well in a lunch bag or box as do slices of banana nut bread, or most any other quick bread. Great for morning or afternoon breaks. Of course, if your workplace has a microwave oven,(lucky you!)you can always bring leftover soup, stew or chili. A quick recipe for Chicken Corn Chowder: 1 pouch Chicken Noodle Soup Mix with diced chicken 2 1/4 cups milk 1 can cream-style corn Combine all ingredients in saucepan; bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until noodles are tender, uncovered, stirring frequently, because it will stick! Mix this up in the evening or on the wekend and store in serving-size containers. Just grab a container in the morning, along with some crackers, and you’re good to go! Try some of these ideas for your lunches this week and start saving some money! And at the same time, you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing that you and/or your spouse will be having a more nutritious meal than you would get at a fast-food restaurant.
